Inspiration/Influences

I’m not sure where to begin with this page. For poetry, I am a big fan of Charles Bukowski, and John Milton inspired me with his style of writing. There are a great many inspirations in poetry from classic writers like Robert Frost, Edgar Allan Poe and Percy Shelley. There are also writers like J.R.R Tolkien and William Shakespeare that have had an immeasurable effect on me. In journalism, my main influences include writers such as Hunter S. Thompson and broadcasters like Keith Olbermann. As far as general writing is concerned, I enjoy the work of Ernest Hemingway and Neil Gaiman. The philosopher who has had the most profound effect on me is Jean-Paul Sartre. His notion of freedom and the idea that we all have absolute responsibility for our actions has greatly changed the way I live my life.  I also have taken many life lessons from Soren Kierkegaard, John Stuart Mill and Friedrich Nietzsche.
